There has to be a word for it

How it feels to have you sitting beside me

And it feels like yesterday

Like you’ve always been here

Shoulder to shoulder

Arm in arm

Smiling ear to ear

And laughing until we can’t breathe.

There has to be a word for it

How you say one word or song lyric

And we’re in our early twenties again

Like we’re in our dorm room

Staying up all night

Watching BTS music videos and Korean Dramas

Talking in a language all our own

Not caring that no one else understands.

But, so much around us has changed.

They say it’s growing up.

We say we’ll talk non-stop

But spend time in comfortable silence.

We say we’ll be up all night

But we’re asleep by 11pm.

You’ve been gone for years

But can only come back for a day.

But for Just One Day,

Nothing has changed.
