Loafers
Jared Stratton
issue seven
Brown leather scuffed miles walked
Soles hard, inside still
soft and warm Emanating
sense of duty, a guiding hand
I don’t remember these shoes
I can’t recall trousers that compliment
Your face your voice
an echo
Your name
in the middle
trying to wear your hat
It doesn’t fit I’m too fat
your shirts. My Soft and doughy body
unfit to wear yours
Your lunchbox A mementoIholdtight
to my chest
you are no longer with me or any of us
The Loafers off to Goodwill
My feet are too big Not big enough
to fill
